With its large commitment to sustainability Filippa K is proud to accept this years H&M & Elle Conscious Award. The award was announced during the Swedish Elle-gala on Friday the 15th of January 2016.

Dedicated to a carefully curated wardrobe of now, a modern interpretation of the life and challenges of women and men today Filippa K has over the last few years created a clean slate for itself, building the company structure of a curious and conscious brand that recognises innovative sustainability as its guide to growth.

– With this years H&M & Elle Conscious Award we want to celebrate a brand that has had sustainability as a founding concept from the very start.” Says H&M´s Sustainability manager Catarina Midby, who handed out the award during the Elle-gala. ”I remember when I, at the time Fashion Editor, visited the founders in their kitchen in the 90s. They wanted to show the very first T-shirts that were designed in the at the time new idea of updated fashion classics – today we would call them Fashion Essentials or Fashion Basics. They have stuck to that idea through the years, all while expanding, becoming international and extremely successful. You could even argue that this is the brand that set the foundation for the so called Swedish fashion-wonder with a style that represents Scandinavian minimalism. Sustainability is high on the agenda. Not least during the last years when they have focused on sustainable materials, a second hand store, rental of the collection and circular economy.

The H&M & Elle Conscious award is one of the most prestigious awards in the fashion business, and was founded in 2007 by H&M and Elle. The award was initiated to encourage and bring attention to fashion brands that work actively with sustainability.

– We look forward to together with our partners, the rest of the industry and customers be able to push the boundaries for what is possible, to be able to provide sustainable fashion. The industry needs to change, and we are proud to be a part of that change and are fully committed in doing all we can to not only do less bad – but hopefully do good.
