When we think of interconnected industries, dentistry might not immediately come to mind, but that's precisely what Dentech aims to change.
Dentech's goal is to digitize dentistry, and they have built a platform that clinics can connect to in order to streamline their daily operations. Here, dentists receive assistance with tasks such as marketing, appointments, and counseling. The idea is to use technology to streamline processes and reduce costs.
Behind the company is Rikard Virta, who also founded Aqua Dental.
Dentech currently operates the booking platform tandläkare.se, which gathers around 130 companies, and now the plan is to grow and launch even more products.
"Swedish universities like KI and GU are ranked top five in the world in dentistry. Similarly, we want Sweden to be globally leading in technological development within dentistry and oral health. The ambition is for Dentech to be the driving force behind this development," says Rikard Virta.
Heavyweights Step In
And indeed, there is money to be made in an industry that generates around 30 billion Swedish kronor annually in Sweden alone.
Novax, the investment company of the Axel Johnson Group, sees potential and announces that they are investing in Dentech.
"Facilitating for an entire industry, an industry that also concerns the entire population, presents a fantastic opportunity in many ways," comments Josef Bexell, sector manager for Health and Wellness at Novax.
However, Novax has not disclosed how much money they are investing in the company.
