Family-owned Aqua Dental announces today that the company continues its expansion through the acquisition of the dental care chain MyDentist. This establishes Aqua Dental in eight new cities and continues its mission to reduce dental care queues in Sweden. With this deal, the company welcomes twelve new clinics, over 200 employees, and 150,000 patients. The MyDentist brand will be discontinued, while the care responsibility and entire operation will be transferred to Aqua Dental. The clinics are now awaiting a decision on joining the state dental care support under their new owner.
"We have a responsibility to promote development in Swedish dentistry, towards patients and employees. Our ambition is to provide world-class dental care. We have had a good dialogue with the Social Insurance Agency, which for good reasons has been very thorough and asked many relevant questions about our plan going forward. In that process, we have presented a robust decision and quality basis. Swedish dentistry needs more staff, resources, and more specialists, something we look forward to adding to reduce the queues," says Niklas Virta, CEO of Aqua Dental.
With its 37 clinics and almost 800 employees, Aqua Dental is now one of the larger privately-owned dental care chains in Sweden. Founded in 2010, the company has established dental care throughout Sweden and is recognized for its patient-focused work. The newly acquired clinics will receive expanded support and resources through Aqua Dental's quality council. Together with the employees, the quality council will continue to ensure that the newly acquired operation offers patients high-quality dental care and complies with applicable rules and procedures.
"Equal and accessible dental care for patients across Sweden is an important societal issue. It is therefore of utmost importance that our twelve new clinics continue to develop positively. Our journey has only just begun, and our goal is to provide Sweden's best and safest dental care. We achieve this, among other things, by working closely with research, promoting competence development, cultivating a strong organizational culture, and always putting the patient first. We are convinced that we are contributing to building a stronger dental care system in Sweden," concludes Niklas Virta.
