Investment firm Novax, part of the Axel Johnson Group, has recruited ASSA ABLOY veteran Samuel Asarnoj to accelerate its efforts in security. The Technical Security sector, one of Novax's four focus sectors, has recently expanded through several acquisitions and is approaching a billion in turnover. The focus lies on digitizing access & security and on solutions that enable smart, secure, and more energy-efficient cities. Within five years, Novax aims to have an international presence and turnover in the multibillion range.
Novax's security operations have expanded in recent years through a number of acquisitions. These include base access systems through RCO, complemented by solutions for mobile access to offices through Accessy and Unloc, digital locks, box solutions, and home access systems via Din Box and Nimly, as well as electromechanical lock solutions for home care and critical infrastructure through the acquisition of Swedlock. The industry is still fragmented, and Novax sees significant opportunities for growth through a combination of organic growth and complementary acquisitions of Swedish and international companies.
Samuel Asarnoj has extensive experience in the security industry both in Sweden and internationally, including as Marketing and Business Development Manager at the ASSA ABLOY Group, and as Strategy and Business Development Manager for HID Global in the USA. Samuel has also been an entrepreneur and founded several companies.
"We are pleased to have found Samuel, who has deep knowledge and extensive experience in the security industry, shares our view on long-term business building, and, like us, is passionate about innovation in security," says Joakim Skarborg, CEO of Novax. "With financial backing from a strong and long-term owner and a fantastic team in place, we are ready to accelerate our efforts in Technical Security."
"I am truly looking forward to leading Novax's Technical Security sector," says Samuel. "The technological shift from mechanical to electronic access creates opportunities for smart digital solutions that are beneficial for users, property owners, and the climate alike. There are incredibly exciting developments happening at the intersection of Proptech and Access; the goal is to build a group of companies within a five-year period that generates billions in turnover through a combination of organic and acquired growth, becoming a significant pillar within Axel Johnson."
