Färsodlarna introduced Sweden's first locally sourced ground beef in 2020, crafted with legumes, rapeseed, and salt to revitalize traditional dishes. Addressing environmental concerns, their goal was to offer a sustainable alternative to conventional ground beef, the primary source of household climate impact. Years of research led to the selection of Swedish protein crops like sweet lupine, gray pea, and field bean, complemented by rapeseed oil residue and salt for texture and flavor. After successful testing in various kitchens, demand soared, marking a significant shift towards eco-friendly meat alternatives.
